2013 - A Year In Review

One of the very best ways that I like to look back at the past year, is through Instagram. I love having "real" camera photos to look back on as well, but I feel that my Instagram feed is what truly captures all those moments throughout the years that I may not remember otherwise. I put together a quick yearly recap and selected only two or three photos per month over the course of 2013.

January - We spent a good week helping my sister and brother-in-law renovate their brand new house. After spending this past Christmas at their place, it's incredible to see how far their home has come since then. We also got to spend some time in Edmonton with our fresh little niece--who was not even one month old at the beginning of January. January also marked the beginning of an incredible business venture with one of my very best friends, Chelsey Dawn.

February - What a month full of firsts! Mark and I saw Benjamin Francis Leftwich for the first time and the show was such an unreal intimate experience! Chelsey and I also booked our FIRST EVER destination wedding to the Dominican; this photo was taken right after coming out of our meeting with the bride.

March - There wasn't a ton of excitement during the month of March. School occupied both mine and Mark's time, which is why one of my March milestones consists of finishing off my MAJOR "final project" for my Photographic Technology program at NAIT.

edmonton-portrait-photographer-storyboard004 April - SUCH a life-changing month!! During April, I got the opportunity to meet and hangout with Meg, who has quickly become one of my closest friends! April was a month of self-discovery, soul searching, and endless moments of inspiration! My little bro also completed his very first year at University, and moved out of Residence at the end of April. Lastly, Mark and I celebrated our third-year anniversary of dating!

May - This month was filled with plenty of Chelsey hahah We gratuated from NAIT and attended our Convocation together, and we spent a life-changing week together in the Dominican.

June - Since Mark was in school for the Spring + Summer semesters, this was the first time that we spent a summer in Edmonton. Dad visited and took us to supper to celebrate father's day AND we were lucky enough to spend a relaxing week at Mark's family cabin, where we sun-tanned, read books, and renovated a ten speed!

edmonton-portrait-photographer-storyboard007 July - July was SUCH a great month! We participated for the first time ever in the Colour Me Rad 5km Run, and spent time with my sister and brother-in-law in Calgary and at the Stampede!

August - After months of contemplation, I FINALLY got my first tattoo! August also marked a huge milestone for my family, as my big sister got MARRIED!! P.S Mark and I also moved into a brand new apartment.

September - September was a photo-filled month! I planned and executed my first ever styled session, Mark and I modelled for another NAIT student and had such a fun time modelling, and for the fist time in my career, one of the weddings that Chelsey and I shot together was featured on an online wedding blog!!

October - October was filled with goodbyes and adventures. I said goodbye to Chels as she left on an 8 week mission trip to India (See more on that HERE). We also took a couple more roadtrips: one to Jasper, and one to Dawson Creek for Thanksgiving. This was also the month when my styled shoot from September was featured on an online blog.

November - my very favourite month of the year! We road tripped to Calgary, and then to Banff to celebrate my 23rd birthday. I also got the privilege to photograph my brand new--two-week old--baby cousin. November also marked the very beginning of my relationship with the rad duo behind Open Window Exchange.

December - what an incredible way to wrap up 2013. My December was filled with beauty, inspiration, and adventure! Meg and I spent a hilarious week together in Cuba shooting a MCP wedding, and came back with a TON of memories. We spent holiday time together with Mark's family, AND my family, and we joined my brother-in-law on his VERY first ski trip to Sunshine Village.

Needless to say, 2013 has brought me more blessings than I can count!! Overflowing with milestones, inspiration, friendships, and opportunities, I could not have asked for a better way to spend the last 12 months of my life!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS! I cannot wait to see what 2014 has in store for us all!
