The Barefoot Bride {part 05} ☮ The Wedding Dress

The hardest part of our wedding planning process for me personally thus far has been my search for a wedding dress. I think that it goes without saying (but I'm gonna say it anyway) that I'm not interested in a dress that is super traditional; but, I've found that finding a dress shop that offers a more bohemian styled dress is hard to come by. After spending a few evenings doing some tedious searching online, I have managed to find a few designers & online shops that offer the look that I am going for, such as: Grace Loves Lace, Daughters of Simone, Mara Hoffman, and Sarah Seven; but, as opposed to my usually quick decision time when it comes to online shopping, investing a huge chunk of money into a wedding gown (that almost always cannot be returned) is a bit harder of a commitment for me to nonchalantly purchase online. Granted, I have ZERO issue ordering a dress online after doing my research, the only issue for me right now is that I've never worn certain "styles" of dresses before (i.e capped sleeves, off the shoulder, etc, etc), which is why if I am able to at least try something similar on in a local boutique, then I'll know which style works with my body, and all that jazz :) kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_0357

A couple of weeks ago, my mom and I did a bit of searching here in the city, but Edmonton really isn't the biggest hub for offbeat weddings & non-traditional bridal shops, so I'm hoping that while we're in Vancouver for a quick stint this coming weekend/week that I'll at least be able to find a shop that I can connect with and try a few dresses on, ESPECIALLY since I haven't even put a single dress on yet!

Did you wear a "non-traditional", bohemian, free spirited dress to your wedding?? I'd LOVE to hear more about it & see pictures!! Happy Monday!!
