Our Honeymoon {Part Two} - So Lafond Of You

On our third day, we awoke in Richland and drove all the way to Portland. In Portland, we wandered around and checked out: Voodoo Donuts, Stumptown Coffee, had sour beer at Cascade Brewing (mmmmm!), and wandered around downtown. From Portland, we drove all the way to Pacific City, where we parked the van at a park right across from the ocean for the night. We woke up the fourth day to the most incredibly warm + blue skied day. We left Pacific City in the afternoon and slowly made our way up the Coast, stopping at almost every little town along the way. The neat thing about that part of the West Coast, is that it never felt like you were driving for very long because you'd just hit one small town right after the next, which made things really fun. We pitstopped in Rockaway Beach for a beer + a snack, before continuing up all the way to Canon Beach.

Canon Beach was a dream. Upon arriving, we found an RV park that thankfully had a handful of campsites remaining available. We booked a stall for the following two nights, and finally set up our Westy for a longer period of time. The RV park we stayed at which was simply called Canon Beach RV was wonderful! It had a pool/hottub, showers, bathrooms, and was walking distance to downtown Cannon Beach. Needless to say, we were the smallest "RV unit" in the entire park haha the whole place was filled with the BIGGEST motorhomes + trailers that we had ever seen. We spent the first night relaxing in the hot tub, and woke up early the next day and spent the entire day laying in the sunshine @ the beach, drinking beers and reading our books.

Once our two nights at the RV park were up, we backtracked to Manzanita because we haaaaaad to get a wet burrito from Left Coast Siesta. Our friend Thomas has raved about these to us for the past year, so we had to check it out. SO GOOD OMG. I apologize if the picture below makes you hungry. kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2308kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2309kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2310kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2311kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2312kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2313kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2314kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2315kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2316kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2317kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2318kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2319kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2320kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2321kaihla_tonai_intimate_wedding_elopement_photographer_2322

From Canon Beach, we motored all the way up to Astoria, which was one of the coolest places I've ever seen. We wanted to try and find a hotel to stay in (since they had some incredible looking ones right on the water, but unfortunately everything was all booked up (obviously hahah we really are going to plan more the next time we do a trip like this). We DID however learn that the house from the Goonies is IN Astoria, so we checked that out before continuing on our way.

From Astoria, we made our way to the tiniest town called Clatskanie, where we found a secluded campground nestled by the river to sleep for the night. On our second last day of travel, we awoke early and got on the road. We took the Interstate 5 all the way up to Tacoma, and then headed East on Interstate 90 towards Ellensburg. This was by far the longest and hottest day on our drive thus far. About 6-8 hours into our drive, our Westy overheated on the Interstate and threw a major wrench into our plans (more on this to come in a future post). We ended up staying in a super small place called Cle Elem for hours (so that the car could cool down) before starting up again at dusk to make it all the way to Spokane before sleeping.

From our stopover in Spokane, we woke up to face the final leg of our journey, and travelled the entire rest of the way back up to Calgary.
