Lauren + Tyler - July 18, 2015
Where in the world should I even begin. From the very first words that ever landed in my inbox from Lauren, I just knew that this wedding would be something incredible; she must have taken an hour to curate the longest and dreamiest inquiry via my website, and with each sentence written, she painted a picture unlike anything that I had ever envisioned prior; immediately I knew that I had to hear more. Lauren's wedding vision alone was enough to make me abandon my last free weekend before my own wedding, but she then went on to let me know that her and Ty we're planning a SURPRISE wedding. Yup, a straight up surprise wedding. Ty had invited over 100 guests to what they thought was an elaborate surprise proposal for Lauren, when in reality the two were working together to create an even BIGGER surprise for all of their guests. Aside from their parents, and their vendors, nobody else was aware of what was actually about to happen on July 18th. press play.
Lauren + Tyler didn't leave out a single detail, and every time they explained bits and pieces of their day to me, I fell more and more in love with not only their wedding day vision, but also their unbelievably open-hearted and perfectly intertwined personalities. Once arriving at their home last Thursday evening, it didn't take me long to realize that the two people that Lauren + Ty have become are a direct reflection of their remarkably kind and warm-hearted family + friends; these two have a beautifully unwavering network of wonderful people weaved throughout their everyday lives. Thursday evening, after settling into their 100+ year old home, the three of us spend some time in their home shooting an engagement session (look out for those images next week!!). The following day, after a few errands around town, Lauren + Ty had prepared a surprise dinner/announcement for their friends who had just flown in, and were about to be notified that they were going to be attending a WEDDING Saturday, as opposed to a proposal, AND that they were going to consist of the members of the bridal party--crazy right??! p.s Lauren had actually bought 20ish dresses (all in the same colour palette) which she got her girlfriends to try on and wear the following day, after they learned the truth about the wedding.
Here are the incredible vendors who worked to bring this day to life:

push play (again).
Watching Lauren + Ty's ceremony come into fruition was pure magic. After all the guests coming to witness the "proposal" had arrived, Ty ushered them into the forest. Following the trail of Mexican blankets that laid at their feet and surrounded by succulents and a forest riddled with candles, they dispersed amongst themselves and sat on the benches. Tiki torches surrounded the space, and Ty stood at the front letting them know that Lauren was about to arrive. We all sat and waiting in anticipation, when out of the forest appeared Lauren (in a wedding gown), arm-in-arm with her dad, with both of them being led by L + T's niece and nephew carrying a sign that read "Surprise!". Gasps and shrieks of joy erupted throughout the guests, as the members of the bridal party--who were sneakily dispersed throughout the seated guests--rose from their seats and joined Tyler in front of the crowd. Two groomsmen picked up an incredibly curated floral + succulent garland from behind the stone wall, and intertwined it with the small trees at the front of the ceremony location to form the most beautiful and natural-looking archway. The rest of the bridal party took their places as Lauren and her dad made their way down the aisle. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of this part of the story...
Once the ceremony had ended, and Lauren + Tyler had danced their first dance to the vocals of Garrett James, the duo led all of the their family and friends through the forest; the image below is the sight that you saw as you emerged from the woods. There are still no words that I could use to adequately describe the truly magnificent sight that was seen; from every surface dripping with lush greenery + florals + moss, to the twinkling of the lights that hung overhead, to the mouth-watering dessert table, to the field filled with yard games, to the bonfire burning. I've come to the conclusion that every wedding reception should take place outside, and that every wedding dinner should consist of a taco + burrito buffet.
press play (for the last time).
