All Natural Homemade Lip Balm
What started out as Mark making a concoction of oils for the wooden spoons he's been carving, has now turned into an incredible organic, and cost-friendly DIY! You can easily make your very own lip balms that are chemical and colouring free! I go through lip chap like nobody's business so it'll be nice to now have our own at home way to make some without having to buy them every couple of months! In order to make your own, the only thing you have to remember is the 2:1 coconut oil:beeswax ratio :) Start by melting the coconut oil in a measuring cup, once it's a liquid, start shaving (or grating) beeswax into the measuring cup until the proper ratio is attained. Then microwave for 10-15 more seconds until both ingredients are melted. As soon as it's all melted together, poor into desired containers ASAP as the mixture will start hardening pretty quickly. We used these tiny lip chap containers that we bought at Dollarama, and then used an old yogurt container to house the leftover.
In our next batch, we plan on adding a bit of Vitamin E to the mixture to make it even better healing wise! This mixture can be used on chapped lips, small burns, rashes, dry skin etc.
