Do any of you feel like you're stuck in the "struggle of not having your space feel like home"? This September marks my sixth year living in Edmonton since graduating and moving away from home, and it also accounts for my FOURTH living arangement/rented space. Over the course of the past six years and four apartments, I've always wanted to make my space feel "homey" (for lack of a better word), but whether it be due to the student budget, the inability to choose a decor style, or simply the hindrance of a roommate, nothing has ever come together quite how I would like it to. Even though we KNOW that we're only going to be in this apartment (and in Edmonton) for the next 8-9 months, and that we're still on a student budget (I don't know if Mark will ever get out of post-secondary hehe), we decided that it was finally time to make our space comfortable, cozy, and reflective of who we are. Granted, we aren't going to be living here for toooooo much longer, but I find that it's important to be inspired by your surroundings, no matter how long you're going to be there for; especially since I work from home almost every single day.
We've been back in Edmonton for almost 72 hours, and have already gotten a jump start on some of our decor. I wanted to snap & share a few before images right in the heart of the chaos before sharing any beautiful & put-together "after" shots. Also, since almost everything that I want to share with you guys decor wise is fit for anyone on a budget, I'm going to be sharing some blog posts in the near future explaining where each uniquity is from, and how much it cost us!
I cannot wait to share the next round of decor update photos with you guys!! I'm just waiting for some of my work to come back from the lab so that we can add it to the gallery wall in our living room :) If you had to name your home style or choose one item in your space that really reflects who you are, what would it be?? I would love to hear more about your style in the comments below; OR if you have any decor tips for someone living on a budget, feel free to leave those down below as well!!
