Shoot & Share - Edmonton

Are you a Shoot & Share photographer??I was introduced to "Shoot & Share" photography a year ago, and I am beyond excited that Edmonton is finally getting their very own local Shoot & Share group!

Whether it be clients or other photographers in the community, our purpose it to share our own talents to aid in uplifting and uniting the community as a whole. Shoot & Share photographers believe in making their money at the front end, rather than up-selling clients after the fact. We strive to give our clients an experience that exceeds and surpasses their expectations; by focusing on building strong and fun friendships with clients, we are able to offer them an experience that they can't find elsewhere!! The Shoot & Share community encourages new photographers, celebrates success, and unites those who are willing to serve each other!

I was first introduced to the idea of "Shoot & Share" photography through Meg Courtney. Because I had graduated from the NAIT Photographic Technology program--where I had learnt solely about the importance of up-selling your clients--I was unaware that any other business models even existed. I was afraid to branch out into something unfamiliar; but, that all changed last May. After joining the International Shoot & Share group on Facebook, I was introduced to some of the most encouraging and supportive individuals in the photographic industry. My business was entirely revolutionized!! By simply being surrounded by such positive and good-hearted people, things quickly turned around for me, and I couldn't be happier with the growth I've had within myself AND my business thanks to this community. I have chosen to adopt the Shoot & Share business model because it is what works best for my business. I offer my clients their digital files along with their session because I know that that is what will make their experience different. It's be proven through my own experiences that clients are more willing to talk and hype up your business, if you're willing to go that extra mile for them and treat them like friends. **This business model is something that I promote and that works for me; however, just like anything else in the world, it is by no means "better" than anyone else's business structure. Much like our individuality as creatives, we all have a method that works for us, this is just the method that I prefer.

The local Shoot & Share groups have been created as a way to connect with those in our very own communities!! It's incredible to create friendships with photographers all over the world, but it's also amazing to be able to meet up with like-minded creatives in your own backyard!! Part of the goal of these groups is to get together every month to either hangout, shoot together, watch ShowIt Live broadcasts together, and just aid in encouraging each other every step of the way! I am so grateful that through my learning process as a budding photographer, that I was able to spend such beneficial and fun times with Meg, who first introduced me to PASS and Shoot & Share photography. She's become one of my greatest friends, and if she hadn't introduced me to such an incredibly encouraging community, I would not be fulfilling all of the dreams and goals that I had set out for myself!
